Defender called up to England squad despite poor form

Everton defender Michael Keane has been included in the England squad that will play against Germany and Brazil in upcoming friendly internationals.

After returning from a knee injury, Keane was included in the Everton squad that defeated Watford in the Premier League this weekend.

Manager Gareth Southgate will be using the friendly internationals that he has between now and next summer’s World Cup to test various players before making a decision on who he would like to include in his squad that will travel to Russia. Keane is one of the players who needs to step up his game if he wishes to travel to Russia.

He may have had an impressive season with Burnley last term which earned him a move to Everton as well as a first call-up to the England national team however he has been less than consistent this season so far.

The games against Germany and Brazil could be a good opportunity for him to prove what he can do against some of the best attackers in the game.
