Steven Gerrard slams West Ham star Javier Hernandez

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has slammed West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez adding that he is nothing compared to Reds forward Roberto Firmino.

The Mexican international Hernandez played 72 minutes of the Hammers 4-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday as his club were comprehensively outplayed and thrashed.

Mohamed Salah scored a brace while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip also managed to add their names to the score sheet.

Speaking after the game, Gerrard praised Firmino for playing a key role in Liverpool’s attacking play on the day. On the other hand, he criticized Hernandez for being lethargic.

He said: “I can understand what he means with Firmino, because Firmino sets the press for him, he works his socks off.

“If you compare Firmino today with Javier Hernandez, it’s two completely different players. One doesn’t care, one doesn’t run, one’s lazy.

“The other one runs his socks off, starts all the presses off, fantastic first touch, makes things happen, is strong, he’s everything you want in a centre-forward.”
