Aston Villa have suffered a blow after club captain John Terry confirmed that he broke a bone in his foot during the Villains defeat against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The veteran defender had to leave the game during the first half and was taken to hospital where it was discovered that he had broken his fifth metatarsal.
Terry took to social media site Instagram to confirm his injury, saying: “Devastated is an understatement to how I’m feeling tonight.
“I have just had the news that I have broken my fifth metatarsal. I will be doing everything I can to get back fit as soon as possible.”
The loss will surely be a huge disappointment to players from within the squad as well as manager Steve Bruce. They will know that this is vital points lost as the aim looks to launch a promotion push this season.
