EPL legend highlights the main difference between West Ham and Liverpool stars

West Ham fell to a heavy Liverpool drubbing on Saturday evening at the London Stadium, with the Reds attack proving too much for the hosts to handle.

The game, which ended in 4-1 saw the worst and best from the main strikers of both sides, with Roberto Firmino proving to be a thorn in the flesh of the Hammers, while his opposite number was largely ineffective.

Javier Hernandez didn’t offer any form of threat to the Liverpool backline, as opposed to the Brazilian who constantly ran and dragged the hosts’ defenders out of their line.

Although Firmino couldn’t add to his 3-goal tally for the current campaign, former Reds captain Steve Gerrard praised him for his work rate.

On the other hand, and despite his 4-goal tally, Chicharito received a dressing down from the English Premier League legend, who declared on BT Sport post-match: “If you compare Firmino today with Javier Hernandez, it’s two completely different players.

“One doesn’t care, one doesn’t run, one’s lazy. The other one runs his socks off, starts all the presses off, fantastic first touch, makes things happen, is strong, he’s everything you want in a centre-forward.”

West Ham have found themselves down in the relegation zone having won just twice this term, and the players will need to buckle up if they are to successfully arrest their poor run of results.

Perhaps, Chicharito and co needs to take a page out of Firmino’s book going forward.
