Superstar explains why his move to Liverpool fell through

PSG defender Dani Alves has revealed that he was going to join Liverpool in 2006 from Sevilla shortly before his move to Barcelona.

During his time at Barcelona, the Brazilian came to be regarded as one of the best players of the modern generation winning many trophies including six La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey titles, three Champions League titles and three Fifa Club world cups.

Despite now being 34 years old, Alves still appears eager as ever to compete at the highest level and since leaving Barcelona, he has represented the likes of Juventus and is now on the books of PSG.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, he said: “I pretty much had an agreement with Liverpool. But for whatever reason it didn’t happen at the last moment and I really don’t know why, as I wasn’t the one conducting the negotiations.

“I had other people representing me back then. Something similar happened later in my career with Chelsea and Real Madrid. Of course, it all worked out happily for the Cules [Barcelona supporters] in the end, and also for me as I was able to write an amazing story at the Camp Nou instead.”
