Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez responds to Everton links

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has dismissed speculation suggesting that he could possibly be the next Everton manager.

The Toffees are without a manager after parting ways with Ronald Koeman on Monday and Benitez who has previously managed the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid is one of the managers who have been rumored to be in line to takeover.

Benitez led the Magpies to instant promotion back to the Premier League last season in only his first full term in charge of the club and they have so far played impressive football in the Premier League this term having taken 14 points from nine games thus far.

It appears that he is committed to Newcastle at least for now and he said: “I heard people talking, but I am happy here. I am concentrating on this, I don’t like to talk about rumours. The reality, obviously, is that my family is in Liverpool, but my past was Liverpool.

“Everton is a great club. I’m not saying I’m interested. I’m saying I’m happy here and want to concentrate on Newcastle and try to do my best here.”
