Newcastle legend urges Benitez to find a replacement for this player

Newcastle United legend Malcolm Macdonald has criticized Joselu and said that the Magpies must look to replace him during the January transfer window.

The Spanish striker arrived at the club from Stoke during the summer and has since gone on to establish himself as a regular within the first team.

The 27 year old Joselu has made eight appearances in all competitions so far this season and has scored two goals so far this season, the last of which came during his clubs 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

However, Macdonald does not feel that the player is doing enough to contribute to the club this season. He said: “Rafa has got a good team with only one weakness. It’s short of a quality player up top. Signing one is a must come January.

“I don’t want to have a pop at Joselu all the time but I must tell it as I see it and he doesn’t contribute enough. I don’t just mean goals, I mean leading the line. At times (Ayoze) Perez was working for the both of them at St Mary’s. (He) works like a beaver.”
