Celtic have received a blow after manager Brendan Rodgers has announced that they will be without defender Jozo Simunovic for at least a “few weeks”.
The Croatian international had to miss the Scottish giants 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich during the week as a result of a hamstring problem.
While speaking about Simunovic, Rodgers said: “It’s a repeat of what he had before so probably out for a few weeks but I’ll get more detail on that today.”
Simunovic is set to miss the Hoops Scottish League Cup semi-final game against Hibernian as well as their top of the table clash with Aberdeen next week.
This will be a major blow considering that Simunovic is the most talented centre-back that Rodgers has at his disposal.
Rodgers will now need to shuffle his pack to determine who will partner Dedryck Boyata. Mikael Lustig did the duties against Bayern while Erik Sviatechenko is said to be closing in on a return. While 19 year old Kristoffer Ajer is another option, his inexperience makes him not an ideal candidate.
