As per Mundo Deportivo(via talkSPORT), Barcelona have registered interest in Napoli defender and Everton transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly, and are looking to seal a deal for him come January when the transfer window reopens.
The Toffees have been long-term admirers of the Senegalese international, but no concrete offers have come from them in the last transfer markets.
Chelsea are said to have failed with a £50million bid for Koulibaly last summer, and it’s believed Barcelona will have to part with at least £60million to have a chance of getting the 26-year-old.
Napoli are topping the Serie A table after winning all their 8 games of the campaign, and it’s almost impossible to see them allow one of their most important players leave halfway through a very promising campaign.
From the look of things, Everton could still have a chance, but it remains to be seen if they will be willing to break the bank for one of the most sought-after defenders right now.
The new project at Merseyside – one that had them aiming at a top 6 finish at the start of 2017-18, has also taken a big hit, and with their chances of playing in next season’s Champions League all but over, attracting a player of Koulibaly’s status seems no longer possible.
