Newcastle United complete major deal

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Mikel Merino from Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis.

Merino made the move to the Magpies on loan during the summer with the option to make the deal permanent if he manages to impress in England.

The 21 year old has been one of the more impressive players for the Magpies so far this season as they have gone on to claim ten points from their several games thus far. Rafa Benitez has now opted to reward the player for his efforts with a five year deal at the club.

After the deal was completed, Benitez said, “I’m really pleased we have been able to bring Mikel to the club permanently. He has played very well since he joined us.

“He has settled in quickly, has a lot of quality on the ball and is keen to learn – that is a crucial part of his future development.”
