Peter Reid says Everton should have signed Tottenham man this summer

Everton club legend Peter Reid has revealed that he thinks that the Toffees should have signed Fernando Llorente during the summer.

The Merseyside club are currently struggling in the Premier League at the moment after taking just several points from their opening several games.

Despite having spent heavily during the summer to recruit new targets, there form has thus far been poor and manager Ronald Koeman is under tremendous pressure.

One of the leading reasons cited for why the club are struggling is because the failed to recruit an experienced striker following Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Manchester United.

Llorente impressed last season as he played a big role in helping Swansea avoid relegation and he eventually earned himself a move to Spurs during the summer.

Reid feels that the Toffees should have signed the Spanish international, saying, “I think last January, it was common knowledge that Lukaku was going.

“They should have gone and got one in. If Giroud wouldn’t come, Fernando Llorente was available and he’d have done for me. Llorente was gettable, so they are out there.”
