Inter Milan to provide Everton competition in the race for prolific star

Giroud

According to reports, Inter Milan are hoping to recruit Everton target Olivier Giroud during the January transfer window and want him to partner Mauro Icardi in attack.

The Frenchman revealed this week that he had been close to joining Everton. The Toffees had been hoping to recruit the 30 year old during the summer as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who ended up joining Manchester United.

They eventually failed to find a suitable replacement for the Belgian and could reignite their interest in Giroud in January given their struggles in front of goal thus far this season.  Giroud has however expressed a desire to carry on playing first team football in England.

He will have his view on securing a place in the France squad for the 2018 World Cup and that will depend on how much match time he gets. The only way he will likely move is if Arsene Wenger does not give him sufficient first team match time.
