According to reports, Newcastle United are interested in signing defender Jakub Jugas from Czech side Slavia Prague during the January transfer window for a fee of £2 million.
The Magpies are however likely to face competition from German Bundesliga sides as well as teams from the Italian Serie A.
It would be strange if the Magpies do recruit a new defender based on the way that they are currently playing.
The 25 year old Jugas is known for being a physically powerful defender who is likely to have what it takes to compete in the Premier League.
He however only joined Slavia this summer and is under contract with the club until 2020 which means that the Czech side will not be easy to negotiate with.
Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clarke are so far doing a good job while Florian Lejeune and Chancel Mbemba are also more than capable options but Jugas will be a good signing for Newcastle.
