Celtic star wants to repay Brendan Rodgers’ faith

Celtic star Patrick Roberts has claimed that he has yet to pay manager Brendan Rodgers for the faith shown in him. Since Rodgers took charge of the Scottish giants, Roberts has shown marked improvement as a player.

The 20 year old played a key role in terms of helping the Hoops achieve domestic treble success whilst remaining unbeaten lasts season and Rodgers also worked hard to bring him back to the club on loan this season from Manchester City.

Had Roberts remained with City, he likely would have sat on the bench and lost confidence in his ability. At Celtic, he has learnt a lot and flourished as a player.

He admits that he owes a lot to Rodgers for developing him, saying, “The manager knows what I bring, he knows the type of play I am and that’s why he’s brought me to the club.

“He puts a lot of trust in me at such a young age and I strive to repay that. He’s been good ever since he came here and I can only get better for him.

“I haven’t set myself any specific targets. I just want to keep improving as a player and to win as many games as I can, and stages like the Champions League play a big part in that.”
