Arsenal legend Martin Keown has claimed that Everton star Wayne Rooney must feel like he is playing under Louis van Gaal again.
Keown said that the player must be feeling like he is playing under van Gaal again and said, “It would have been interesting to speak to Wayne Rooney after the final whistle, does he almost now feel like he’s playing for van Gaal?”
The veteran Rooney rejoined his boyhood club from Manchester United this summer after falling down the pecking order at the Red Devils following a successful 13 year spell with the club.
There were heavy expectations on the Toffees this season after they invested heavily during the summer.
However the Merseyside club have so far under-performed as they have claimed just two wins from nine games.
Rooney is no stranger to witnessing a team underperforming as he witnessed United fail to live up to expectations whilst playing under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rooney was on target for the Toffees on Thursday during their disappointing 2-2 draw with Apollon Limassol.
