Paul Merson has predicted that Everton will defeat Burnley in the Premier League encounter between the two sides this weekend.
The Toffees have started the season in underwhelming form after picking up just several points from their opening six games.
Despite this, their form last week was encouraging as they picked up wins against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup and against Bournemouth in the League.
Though the Merseyside club have been poor in terms of their attack, the form of striker Oumar Niasse has been promising and he score three goals last week, one of which came against the Black Cats and the other two coming during the team’s 2-1 victory over Bournemouth.
Burnleyhave so far performed better than Ronald Koeman’s side and currently have nine points from six games. Merson however predicted that the Toffees will come out better.
Whilst discussing Everton’s prospects for the upcoming fixture, he said, “I thought they were poor but then again they did a job. Last season Burnley were excellent at home but this season it seems to have reversed and it’s their away form that has been impressive.
“That being said, if Everton can remain patient I think they will break Burnley down eventually to pick up another home win.”
