Neville lavishes Liverpool with praise

Sky Sports pundit Phil Neville has said that Liverpool can match any team with Sadio Mane in attack.

Since arriving from Southampton last summer in a deal worth £34 million, Mane has lived up to expectations as he scored 13 goals from 29 games in all competitions last season and has so far scored three goals from three games in the Premier League this season.

Whenever the Senegal international has not been available, the performances of the Reds seem to deteriorate.  With Mohamed Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino in their ranks, Jurgen Klopp’s side have a lethal attack.

Neville has now stated his belief that the Merseyside club can match anybody with Mane in their ranks and said, “Liverpool’s defensive struggle is something we’ve been talking about for 12 months, so I don’t know how they can rectify that with their current personnel.

“But what I would say is that they showed a lot of courage to beat Leicester and, while they’ll always concede, they’ve probably got a forward line to match anybody when they get Sadio Mane back.”

Their defence however has proven to be leaky and is something that the club needs to seriously work on if they want to challenge for trophies this season.
