Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has revealed that he wishes to move on from talk of missed opportunities in the transfer market during the summer and start focusing on the football that his side are playing.
The Spanish boss was left frustrated this weekend as his side went down 1-0 against Brighton and Hove Albion whom they finished above last season to claim the Championship title.
One of the talking points that came out of the game was whether the Magpies would have gained something from the game had they had a proven Premier League goal scorer.
Benitez went public this summer as he complained that the club’s board did not give him sufficient capital to invest in new talent.
Despite what happened, Benitez said that he wishes to now focus his attention onto football and said, “I think we are more focused on football now. That is the way when you have finished the transfer window and you can concentrate just on football.
“In these kind of games, we can see that we are still short in some areas, but when we do well as a team we can compete and beat anyone. These small margins are the key for us if we are going to get points in these kind of games.”
