Former Everton boss Roberto Martinez has said that fans’ expectations of the team are understandable.
The Toffees spent heavily on bolstering their side during the summer and many fans are hoping that they will finish the Premier League with nothing less than a top six finish.
So far the Toffees are not playing like a side that can challenge for a top six finish and lie in 18th position in the Premier League standings after taking just four points from their opening five games.
There is currently a lot of pressure on manager Ronald Koeman and should things not improve soon, he could get the sack.
Matinez has now stated his belief that Everton fans are not being unrealistic with regards to their demands of the team and said, “Winning is the best formula to get people together in any new project.
“You can understand the expectation, it’s the biggest investment that they have ever had in the Premier League.
“I always felt that Everton will be competing to win silverware and the fans feel that. The Europa League brings an extra difficulty, and I’m sure that combination takes time to settle in.”
