Liverpool under-23 coach Neil Critchley has insisted that Harry Wilson will not be rushed into the club’s first team plans.
The 20-year-old has shown the signs that he can be a breakout superstar by notching 28 goals last season.
Despite this, he was given only one 25 minute first team appearance and lies below Ben Woodburn in the club’s pecking order.
Wilson currently serves as captain of the Reds under 23 side and Critchley maintained that the player will be made to continue his development with the reserves before he is thrown into the first team fold.
He said, “You know there will be ups and downs and you may have to give them more time than you thought.
“Who knows where they are going to end up when they are 23, 24 and fully-fledged professionals? Harry has had a little setback with his injury but it will be interesting to see where he is in six months’ time.”
