Liverpool handed huge fitness scare once again

Liverpool have revealed that Danny Ings was taken off while playing for the clubs under 23 side against Manchester City as a precautionary measure.

The 25-year-old Ings had to be taken off around the 36th minute of the match as he had appeared to be suffering from pain.

After arriving at the Reds in 2015, Ings has struggled to feature regularly for the club due to being affected by injuries. Last season he went on to make just two appearances in all competitions.

It remains to be seen if he will ever manage to work himself back into the first team plans of Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside club’s under 23 manager Neil Critchley revealed that the player had to be taken off against City as a precautionary measure, saying, “It’s more a precaution than anything.

“He felt something very early in the game and he wasn’t quite right, so we’re not taking any chances with Danny and there are plenty of first-team games to come. We’ll just look after him and assess him, but I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

The Reds went on to win the game 1-0.
