Rejuvenated Liverpool star outlines his ambitions for the season

Liverpool defender Albero Moreno has revealed that he is a fighter and is determined as ever to play regularly for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Moreno had to serve as cover for the majority of last season to James Milner, who was utilized as a left back despite being a natural midfielder.

After working hard to improve his defending over the summer, Moreno has managed to make the left back position with the Reds his own for the early parts of this season.

Andy Robertson was brought in from Hull during the summer to provide competition for the left back position and the presence of the Scotland international is also motivating him.

He has now said of his time thus far at the Reds, “The lowest point came at the start of last season when I was not playing. I was training hard and well, and then the manager decided James Milner would be left-back. I was not happy.

“But in life and in football I am a fighter. I never give up and when you are down you have to use that motivation to work harder. To be honest, when we signed Andy Robertson it gave me more strength and made me focus even more.

“In the summer training sessions the manager started using Milner in central midfield, so that was also encouraging.

“I knew there was an impetus to keep working and things would work out. I felt good and thought I can stay here and I can do a job here. I knew in pre-season I had a future here.”
