Dutch legend says Davy Klaassen made a good choice in joining Everton

Davy Klaassen has revealed that Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp had informed him that he made a “good choice” by opting to join Everton. Klaassen joined the Toffees this summer from Dutch giants Ajax in a £23.6 million move.

He spoke to FourFour Two magazine about life in England and said as reported by the Liverpool Echo, “In Holland, maybe Everton are not that big – people think they are sixth or seventh in the Dutch league. But it’s a big difference. When you come here, you see just how big Everton are.

“I think we can reach the Champions League but it needs time. You can’t expect us to win 38 games this season but we want to finish higher up than last year.

One of the first messages he received was by text from striking great Dennis Bergkamp following the transfer, his assistant manager at Ajax. It read simply “Good choice.”

The attacking midfielder will be hoping to deliver good form for his side this season, who have high ambitions having been very active in the transfer market this summer

Klaassen is a very composed player and that was proven by the fact that he had a 80% successful pass completion rate in the Eredivisie last season.  He also adds leadership to the Merseyside club having served as captain for Ajax.
