Manager admits Celtic could sign talented 20-year-old in January

Celtic vs Hearts

Former South African national team boss Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he feels that Celtic will return for young defender Rivaldo Coetzee.

The 20-year-old Coetzee was on the verge of joining the Hoops during the final few days of the transfer window, however the deal broke down after the player failed a medical after an irregularity was found in a bone of his right foot.

Coetzee was on the books of South African club Ajax Cape Town at the time during which the move broke down and he has since moved on to Mamelodi Sundowns which is currently managed by Mosimane.

Mosimane said that he can see Brendan Rodgers once again trying to sign the player in the future and said, “Medically his condition will be sorted. He does not have to go through an operation which would rule him out for nine months like everybody said.

“He will soon be back, I think three months maybe. The specialist gave us a report and we are happy with the report.

“I think when Brendan Rodgers sees the medical report again, he will be willing to have another look at the player again.

“Football is a game of moments. He is available, you’ve got to take the chance. Do you want to lose this chance to sign a 20-year-old? Brendan Rodgers speaks so well about the boy because he has been watching his games.”
