Former Liverpool star John Aldridge has claimed that Philippe Coutinho will end up joining Barcelona next summer.
The 25-year-old Coutinho was linked with a move to the Spanish giants this summer and ended up handing in a transfer request to the Reds.
The Merseyside club also rejected numerous bids from the Catalan giants for the Brazilian, insisting that they will not sell.
While Aldridge feels that Coutinho will play with heart for Liverpool this season, he thinks that the Brazilian will end up leaving the club.
The Irishman said, “Make no mistake, Coutinho will come back [to play for Liverpool]. He’s a lovely fella, he’s a good family man, and Barcelona turned his head. It can happen.
“The move over there didn’t happen for him but I’m sure he’ll give us a really good season and wave goodbye next summer, because Barca will come back for him, he’s too good to be ignored.”
Coutinho has yet to feature for Liverpool this season due to a back injury and a bout of sickness. However, he did make a return to action on Friday as he played for Brazil against Ecuador and ended up scoring a goal during the game.
