Football pundit John Barnes has made a claim which will certainly not delight Everton fans.
The former England footballer has claimed that Ronald Koeman’s side will not finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.
The Toffees were one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window this summer as they recruited the likes of Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and Sandro Ramirez.
The Merseyside club finished seventh last season and many fans will be hoping that they can better that with a top four finish this season.
Barnes however does not believe that the Toffees have what it takes to finish in the top four this season.
During an interview with HITC Sport, he said, “Well, I think they can challenge for the top six, probably not the top four because if you look at the game against Chelsea, you can see that they are, in terms of quality, still a bit short.
“I think they can challenge for fifth or sixth. I don’t think they can challenge for the top four positions.”
