Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that his clubs defender Nathaniel Clyne is set to face a long spell on the sidelines.
Clyne is currently unable to compete due to a back injury which he picked up during pre-season and has not played for the club since coming off the bench against Tranmere Rovers.
Though the 26-year-old has been receiving treatment at Liverpool’s Melwood training facilities, he is set to not be available at least until New Year.
As a result, the Reds opted not to name him in their squad that will compete in the Champions League though he can compete should the club reach the knockout stages of the competition.
Whilst talking about the situation with Clyne, Klopp said, “Nathaniel is working hard on his rehab and we have kept a close eye on his progress.
“But the reality is we are looking at some time still before he is back and available for selection. I am told it will be longer than just a couple of weeks, so we will continue to monitor and assess.”
