How Celtic stars performed during the International fixtures

Celtic vs Hearts

Both the Scottish and non-Scottish Celtic contingent finished out their international break on Tuesday and have since reported back to the club. Here is a look at how they did in the second set of fixtures:

Non-Scottish Players

Cristian Gamboa

The Costa Rican has nearly seen his side clinch a spot in Russia after a 1-1 draw with Mexico at home on Tuesday night. However, he scored an unfortunate own goal for Mexico’s only goal of the match in his 90 minutes, but it did not prove fatal to them at all.

Mikael Lustig

The Swede played all 90 minutes for his country on Sunday as they claimed second place in the group- for now- with a 0-4 win away to Belarus. He assisted the first goal of the night for them.

Tom Rogic

The Aussie will have to contend with an Asian playoff and then an intercontinental playoff with a CONCACAF side if he is to see the World Cup next year. The Australians won 2-1 at home over Thailand, but it was not enough to clinch progression after Saudi Arabia’s win.

Jonny Hayes

Ireland are now a point behind Wales for second after they lsot 0-1 at home to Serbia on Tuesday. He was an unused substitute yet again.

Jozo Simunovic

Bosnia faced Gibraltar away from home on Sunday, and they eased to a 0-4 win there. Simunovic didn’t feature despite playing against the weaker opposition.

Scottish Players

Scotland defeated Malta 2-0 at home on Monday to keep their chances of going to the World Cup alive with two matches left to play. They are one point back of the second place side, and they will be able to qualify if they win both of their matches to come. Anything less is not likely to see them progress.

Leigh Griffiths

the man architect behind the victory, Griffiths had the assist- from a corner- on the first goal and then grabbed the second goal for himself after 49 minutes. He was taken out on 70 minutes.

Scott Brown

Played all 90 minutes and kept it clean for a second straight match.

Craig Gordon

The goalkeeper played all 90 minutes and helped keep a clean sheet in the victory.

Kieran Tierney, Stuart Armstrong & James Forrest- Also played all 90 minutes.
