Tottenham Hotspur can reportedly sign target for £35million

Everton have reportedly lowered their asking price for Ross Barkley to £35 million. Barkley is likely to leave the Merseyside club before Thursday’s transfer deadline after rejecting the chance to sign a new contract at the club.

The 23-year-old has just a year left on his current contract at Goodison Park and the Toffees initially priced a £50 million price tag on his sale. However, as the asking price has made finding potential suitors difficult, Everton have decided to lower their demands recently.

There are a number of teams interested in the England international, with Chelsea and Tottenham said to be leading the race. There had been no notable bids received until Chelsea submitted a £35 million offer on Monday.

Everton will be hoping that the bidding war which is set to take place between Chelsea and Spurs can help them fetch as high a price as possible. It will be interesting to see who eventually wins the bidding war.
