Everton star suffers disappointing injury blow

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has pulled out of the England squad that is due to play in upcoming World Cup qualifiers because of a thigh injury.

He has now returned to Finch Farm to receive treatment on the injury, which was suffered during the Toffees 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Pickford, who is in impressive form, will have to wait a bit longer to get his debut for the Three Lions. Joe Hart and Tom Heaton are likely to now compete for who will don the jersey against Malta and Slovakia.

There is no doubt that this will be a blow to Pickford. Confirming the news, the English FA released a statement saying, “Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has left the England camp and returned to Everton.

“Having reported to St. George’s Park on Sunday evening, the 23-year-old underwent an assessment on a muscle injury sustained playing for his club.”
