Italian giants Juventus are said to have given up on trying to lure Emre Can from Liverpool this summer, but may attempt to sign the German on a free transfer next summer.
The 23-year-old Can is on the final year of his current deal with the Reds and has yet to renew his deal with the club.
Despite facing the risk of losing the player for free next summer, Liverpool have refused to listen to offers from Bayer Leverkusen, who were trying to sign Can this summer. Juventus will now be able to enter talks with Can in January when he will be able to talk with other clubs.
Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta seemingly confirmed that his club are interested in signing Can and said, “Liverpool are holding on tight to Emre Can.
“His contract expires in June, we’ll be able to negotiate with him from January. We won’t hide the fact we like him. But currently he is a Liverpool player, so we can only admire him from afar.”
