One-time Ballon d’Or winner claims Coutinho isn’t the solution to Barcelona’s mess

According to Carrusel Deportivo, former Barcelona midfielder Luis Suárez, 82, has boldly claimed signing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele won’t mask the fact that the Catalans are in a very bad shape at the moment.

The former has been routinely linked with Barca in recent transfer windows, and despite committing his future to the Anfield outfit 8 months ago, he handed in a transfer request last week.

Liverpool, though, have insisted Coutinho isn’t for sale, knocking back three offers, the last being a £114million bid from the Catalans. Could the opinion of the 1960 Ballon d’Or winner change the mind of the Liga giants?

Liverpool appear ready to force the Brazilian into remaining at Anfield until at least next summer, and that would come as a good news to the Reds fans.

If Coutinho can be convinced into staying, they have a bigger chance of winning silverware with him still within their ranks following the few summer recruitments they have made.

However, Barcelona won’t likely give up on their pursuit as the recent Super Cup home and away losses to Real Madrid have further forced their hands.

While Suarez might be true in his assessment of claiming the deeper problems at Camp Nou are much bigger than what Coutinho’s arrival can solve, the little magician is very much cherished and needed at Merseyside as he can help Liverpool solve their very own issues.
