Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer believes that there is no way that Liverpool will be able to hold onto Philippe Coutinho.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona and he is also said to be keen on a move to the Camp Nou.
During his playing career, de Boer was one of the few players who turned down an offer from the Catalan giants as he wished to remain with Ajax but he does not see the same happening with the Brazilian Coutinho.
Whilst speaking about the current Coutinho situation, de Boer said, “When somebody is not happy and he wants to leave, you know it is almost impossible that he stays. Then you have to wait until the end of the transfer period and you are still always in doubt.”
He is perhaps right. In modern day football, the vast majority of footballers will not turn down the opportunity to play for a club such as Barcelona.
