Liverpool’s “most expensive former 14 year-old winger” set to leave Anfield

According to the Mirror, Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo is off to Championship outfit Fulham on a season-long loan after both teams reached an agreement.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants the 20-year-old to speed up his football maturity, and has concluded regular football elsewhere on a temporary exit would help do that.

Having had loan stints with Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the second-tier is seen as the best place to go for Ojo, and he isn’t short of suitors as Middlesbrough, Derby and Aston Villa all registered interest.

However, the youth World Cup winner has personally decided to move to Craven Cottage, and it’s believed manager Slavisa Jokanovic is ready to make him a mainstay in his starting XI.

Fulham missed out on Premier League promotion last term as they were knocked out by Reading in the Championship play-off semi-final.

They are hoping to scale through this term, and they have identified Ojo, who is renowned for his pace and dribbles as a much-needed addition to boost their chances.

Ojo joined Liverpool from MK Dons in 2011 for £2million, becoming the most expensive 14 year-old in English football as a result.

An injury limited him to just 2 senior team appearances last term, and with a lot of competition for playing minutes likely to hinder his development, a loan at Fulham will without a doubt do him a lot of good.
