According to reports, German club RB Leipzig have resigned themselves to losing Liverpool target Naby Keita next summer.
The Reds were hopeful of luring the Guinea international this summer but saw two bids, believed to be in the region of £75 million, rejected.
Nonetheless, Sporting director of the club Ralf Rangnick has now revealed that his club are resigned to losing the player next summer, saying, “Sometimes, players develop even faster than the club.
“When he plays a season like last year and, if possible, in the Champions League too – then we might be able to let a player join a big club and live with it.”
Though Jurgen Klopp’s side have cooled their interest for now, they could reignite it next summer when the player will have a release clause of £48 million in his contract.
Keita caught the eyes of the football world last season as he played a big role in helping the relatively unknown Leipzig finish in second position on the Bundesliga standings and qualify for the Champions League.
