Ross Barkley could be set to be out for up to six weeks following as a result of a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old Barkley is facing a battle to be fit before the end of October and this setback may dent his hopes of finding a new club before the end of the summer. The Merseyside club will however not let him go cheaply.
The England international turned down the opportunity to sign a new contract with the Toffees who are now hoping to sell him as he has just one year remaining on his current deal with the club.
As Barkley is a footballer who is highly rated, heavyweights such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have all shown interest in signing him.
Chelsea are in special need of players to bolster their attack and are said to have also stepped up their interest in Leicester’s Danny Drinkwater and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal.
