Everton reportedly on the verge of completing major signing

According to reports, Everton are on the verge of signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea for £45 million.

The Merseyside club are proposing to pay £40 million up front with a further £2.5 million in ad-ons.

Sigurdsson has already informed the Swans that he wishes to leave and he is now waiting for the formalities to be completed.

At 27, the Iceland international Sigurdsson is likely at the peak of his career and Everton would be an attractive option for him at this stage, considering that the club will allow him the prospect of playing in the Europa League as well as the chance to play for a side that will aim to challenge for a place in the top six.

Sigurdsson was impressive for Swansea last season and played a big role in terms of helping the club to avoid relegation from the Premier League. He will be hoping to achieve big things with the Toffees.
