Legend hails Everton’s transfer business this summer

Everton legend Phil Neville has claimed that his former club were clever in terms of their transfer strategy this summer.

After losing Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, the Toffees bolstered their team with the additions of Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina, Wayne Rooney and Davy Klaassen.

Although Neville feels that the Merseyside still need to make a few new additions to their side, he believes that they have been positive in terms of their dealings thus far.

The Everton icon said, “They signed the players first before they sold Lukaku. I think that was clever. The fans knew Lukaku was going, but they brought in four or five before.

“Actually Lukaku left the club without too much discontent and it’s a long time since that happened at Everton. I think they need two players, probably a centre-forward.”

The Toffees are still pushing hard to lure Gylfi Sigurdsson though Swansea’s £50 million valuation of the Iceland international is proving to be problematic.

Everton have made it known that they will be aiming for nothing less than a top six finish this season and it will certainly be interesting to see how they fare.
