Former Newcastle coach Dean Saunders has claimed that the Magpies are headed for a “car crash” during the upcoming Premier League season.
The Magpies have spent around £35 million and brought in five new signings this summer in order to make their side more competitive ahead of the Premier League season.
However, Many have however criticized the club as they should have been spending a lot more if they want to avoid a relegation scrap next season.
Rafa Benitez has even himself admitted that things have not exactly gone according to plan in terms of signings for his club this summer.
Saunders, who worked under Graeme Souness at Newcastle, has now expressed his skepticism of the clubs transfer business this summer by saying, “The conversation when they appointed him would have been: ‘Come and get us back up, we’ll give you a good contract. When you do get us back up we’ll let you spend this amount of money.’
“The problem is, that spending isn’t happening at the moment. Benitez, the way he is, doesn’t mess around. There’s a car crash coming at Newcastle.”
