According to The Sun, Watford manager Marco Silva is interested in securing the services of Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno.
The Portuguese manager has been tasked with improving on the Hornets’ last term’s 17th place finish, and he wants to bring in more quality additions to his ranks having already signed 5 players thus far.
Silva sees Moreno as strong competitor for the ageing Jose Holebas. The Spaniard lost his berth at the Reds backline to James Milner last term, and the arrival of Andrew Robertson further puts his Liverpool future in doubt.
It does appear that the Anfield outfit won’t hesitate to let the former Sevilla man leave for the right price after some woeful performances from him last term.
Moreno cost Liverpool £12million some 3 seasons ago, and while they aren’t expected to want to make profit on his sales, they won’t be looking to make much loss either.
Although, the 25-year-old earned boss Jurgen Klopp’s praises following his impressive displays during the 3-nil trashing of Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup, he still has a lot of fighting hard to do to regain his spot. That might not be the case at Vicarage Road.
The temptation to play regular football ahead of next year’s World Cup – where he wishes to represent Spain might just be too much to resist for Moreno.
