Ronald Koeman has spoken about his intention regarding defender’s future

Everton are set to hold off making a decision on the future of Jonjoe Kenny though Ronald Koeman has not ruled out sending the youngster out on loan.

Many thought that Kenny would be named on the Everton squad that played in last week’s Europa League tie against Ruzomberok, but he was left out.

The 20-year-old Kenny however is highly rated, having captained the Everton under 23 side to Premier League 2 success last season and was also part of the England under-20 side that claimed the World Cup this summer.

When asked if Kenny would be sent out on loan this season, Koeman has now said, “We know that we have several options for his position with Mason Holgate, with Cuco Martina and Kenny – and, finally, the best will play.

“And at the end of this pre-season we will take a decision: if Jonjoe is not really close to a position in the first-team then maybe we will think about what the best is to develop the player.”

Kenny is unlikely to feature much should he remain at the Toffees as Koeman has Cuco Martina and Mason Holgate as options to fill in the right back position and loan move away will likely be beneficial.
