Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez eyeing a swoop for Spanish attacker

Rafa Benitez is on a hunt for a new No. 9 for the Newcastle United’s squad this summer.

In his pursuit, he has now set his eyes on Arsenal’s forgotten striker Lucas Perez, claims The Sun.

he forward is on his way out if the Emirates Stadium after losing the No. 9 Jersey to their new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

The 28-year old signed for gunners last year and struggled to find a regular footing in the first team as he appeared in only 6 games for Arsenal, but managed 5 goals. Despite the low number of starts he was impressive in his appearances.

However, the reports also claim that Perez was to be loaned back to Deportivo before Benitez’s offer of signing the forward on a permanent deal came in.

On the other side, Christian Atsu, Javi Manquillo, Jacob Murphy and Florian Lejeune have already been signed by Newcastle United on permanent deals.

In such a situation, it will be a thoughtful decision by Benitez to sign a player of that age unless he is in a need for players who can make an impact from the bench.
