Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that his side will be challenging for the Premier League next season.
Klopp said of his teams aims for the upcoming season, “Yes, we will be playing for the championship. We don’t start a season by not having any ambitions.
“We have to have our goals and I think we have a very good team now. We did have a bit of bad luck last season. I think we can play a little bit better.”
Though the Merseyside club are historical giants of the English game, they managed only their second Champions League qualification in eight seasons last term.
The Reds looked to be title contenders during the first half of last season but they started to lose momentum as the regular fixtures and injuries took its toll.
There certainly is a lot of work that the team will need to do should they wish to challenge for the title during the upcoming campaign.
In what will be good news for fans of the club, Klopp also indicated that he has no plans to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona at least for this summer.
