Everton will reportedly target 29-year-old as alternative to Giroud

Slimani

According to reports, Everton could turn their interest onto signing Leicester City striker Islam Slimani should they fail to lure Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.

The Toffees sold their top scorer from last season Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75 million. Though Everton have managed to buy Sandro Ramirez, they still need a striker who is a proven goal scorer in the English top flight.

Giroud could receive limited playing time with Arsenal next season after the Gunners purchased Alexandre Lacazette. It however remains to be seen whether he will leave the club or opt to remain and try and fight for a place in the team.

Slimani arrived at Leicester last summer for £28 million and scored eight times from 28 appearances for the club.  Everton manager Ronald Koeman is said to be a fan of the Algerian international Slimani, who boasts 25 goals from 51 appearances for his country.
