Liverpool reportedly not willing to enter £72million deal

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a £72 million offer from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho and have informed the Catalan giants that the player is not for sale.

Barca were said to have cooled their interest earlier in the year for Coutinho after he penned a new five year deal, which does not include a release clause.

However, they reportedly rekindled their interest after speculation emerged suggesting that PSG are lining up a world record £199 million bid for Neymar.

Coutinho is expected to be a key part of JurgenKlopp’s plans for next season as the Reds make a return to the UEFA Champions League. Klopp has since stated that his club do not wish to lose Coutinho this summer.

After penning his new deal in January, the player also added that he wishes to remain at Anfield and said, “I signed this new contract to stay here for a few more years because it’s a great honour for me.

“It gives me great happiness because I was welcomed here with open arms by everyone at the club and the supporters right from my first day.”
