Liverpool reportedly set to make £65million bid for top target

After Liverpool had an initial bid of £57million for Naby Keita rejected last week, they are all set to up their bid by £8 million, according to James Pearce of Liverpool Echo.

With Brazilian mid-fielder Lucas Leiva poised to leave for Italian outfit Lazio, Liverpool will be short of a defensive minded midfielder. In such circumstances, Reds’ desperation to sign Keita makes sense.

Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has also backed Jurgen Klopp to spend big money for the Guinean midfielder. Yet what worries Hamann is that lack of defensive cover in Liverpool’s midfield will hinder Keita’s attacking instincts.

However, the Reds are not the only club interested in luring Naby Keita away from RB Leipzig. Inter Milan are also monitoring 22-year-old’s situation, but they are yet to put in a bid for the midfielder.

It would be very hard for RB Leipzig to turn down a £65 million (€75 million) offer from Liverpool, given that Keita’s interest also lies in moving to Anfield.
