Newcastle United reportedly set to complete £8million deal for attacker

According to reports, Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Jacob Murphy from Norwich City for £8 million.

Southampton and Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in signing the 22-year-old Murphy but Newcastle seem to have won the race.

Manager Rafa Benitez is looking to bring in Murphy to boost his attack ahead of the upcoming English Premiership campaign.

Murphy played a key role for the Canaries in the Championship last season, scoring eight goals and registered as many assists, and he may be keen to step up to the Premier League with the Magpies.

The attacker was also a key player for the England under 21’s who reached the semi-finals of the European Championships this summer, losing to Germany on penalties.

There is no doubt that Benitez will make more new signings this summer after Murphy arrives. Thus far, he has added two names to his squad in defender Florian Lejeune and winger Christian Atsu.
