Middlesbrough reportedly in talks with Premier League side over 26-year-old’s signing

According to reports, Newcastle United have turned down a loan move from Middlesbrough for goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Following the rejection of this proposal, Boro are said to have offered a £5 million fee for the player, which the Magpies said would need to be increased for a sale to take place.

Darlow is no longer the starting keeper for Newcastle and the club are willing to part ways with him this summer though they want to make a profit on the £4.2 million which they had paid to lure him from Nottingham Forest three years ago.

Though Darlow made 36 appearances for the Magpies last season, he ended up losing his place in the squad towards the end of the season to Rob Elliot.

Rafa Benitez has also been rumored to be wanting to sign a new experienced goalkeeper and has been linked with the likes of former Liverpool shot-stopper Pepe Reina as well as England first choice keeper Joe Hart.
