Former Newcastle star Papiss Cisse has dedicated his latest goal to former Magpies team-mate Cheick Tiote. After netting for Chinese club Shadong Luneng against Liaoning Kaixin on Sunday, Cisse lifted his shirt to reveal a message of support to his former team-mate.
He pointed to the sky as he revealed the message. Cisse and Tiote were good friends, as the two played together for the Magpies for four years and also played together internationally for the Ivory Coast.
This was confirmed by Cisse when he said, “I lived some extraordinary moments with this man and today he is gone. He was like a brother. We shared a lot in life. His family was my family.”
Tiote passed away earlier this month while participating in a training session for Beijing Enterprises in China. His death has deeply affected the football fraternity in the Ivory Coast.
