Everton are reportedly considering a swoop for African defender

According to reports, Everton are considering signing Saint-Etienne ace Florentin Pogba, who is the brother of Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The Toffees are looking to bolster their defensive ranks with the signing of Pogba as they prepare for Europa League action next season, though they will have to compete with last season’s surprise Bundesliga runners up RB Liepzig in the race to sign the 26-year-old, who plays his international football for Guinea.

Following injuries to Seamus Coleman as well as Ramiro Funes Mori, which will likely rule out the duo for the beginning of next season, the Merseyside club will need new defensive options to support Ashley Williams.

Pogba has just a year to run on his current deal with Saint-Etienne and should he want to leave, the club will likely have to sell him cheaply this summer or risk losing him for free next year.

Pogba made 29 appearances for his club in all competitions this past season, scoring one goal and recording one assist in the process.
